Despite his vocal support for the party’s candidates in the recently ended FCT area council election, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has insisted that he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party member, has aided and abetted the APC’s candidates in the election.

In the Federal Capital Territory, the APC won five of the six local government chairmanship elections.

According to reports, prior to the election, Wike made a public commitment to back candidates that share President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Discussions about his political loyalty in particular have been sparked by his strong participation in the campaigns and the election’s final result.

In an interview with Arise News, Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, was asked what the party would do if Wike were an APC member but employed by another political party—a move that is generally considered to be anti-party.

Morka Avoided Speculation
You’re asking me to make assumptions, and I won’t do that. Listen up. For the PDP, it is the question. The PDP should be the target of your inquiry regarding their party structure, member treatment, and handling of such issues within the Peoples Democratic Party, he stated.

“You know, I can’t make any assumptions about something that belongs only to the party.”

Morka, speaking on behalf of the ruling party, acknowledged the minister’s influence on the outcome of the FCT election but clarified that Wike’s political standing is unchanged.
