Twenty-four hours after former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, the South West Coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso, OK Movement, asserted that around 10 million Nigerians had enrolled.

According to reports, Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, abandoned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday in favor of the NDC in preparation for the upcoming general elections.

The development has drawn criticism, with some saying that Obi’s prospects of winning the presidency of Nigeria are diminishing.

In response, Adebayo refuted the assertion in a Monday interview with Arise TV, claiming that Obi’s supporters spanned all six geopolitical zones.

She claims that Obi’s personality and skills, not his political affiliation, are what matter.

“Mr. Peter Obi has a lot of followers across Nigeria,” she stated. Obi’s chances and the South East’s chances did not significantly decline.

“10 million Nigerians registered with NDC within 24 hours of Peter Obi’s departure from ADC, which is significant.”
