Laud Governor Alia’s Administration for Effective Examination Management in Line with 21st-Century Standards

Following the successful conduct and completion of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Benue State, the Conference of Harmonized Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (COHCSON) has commended the administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for its commitment to reforms, improved service delivery, and the effective administration of examinations in line with 21st-century standards and global best practices.

In a joint statement, the Coordinator of COHCSON, Comrade Patrick Oduma, praised the Executive Secretary of the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board (BEQAEB), Dr. Francis Terna, and his management team for their foresight, innovation, and dedication to excellence in service delivery.

According to the statement, the digitalization of the Board’s services has significantly transformed the educational assessment system in the state and improved the overall efficiency of examination management.

“This model has not only transformed the traditional approach to examination administration in the state, but has also revolutionized the entire process. It reflects the ingenuity and visionary leadership of the Executive Secretary of BEQAEB, Dr. Terna Francis, and his team, whose dedication has ensured effective service delivery since the establishment of the Board,” Oduma stated.

He further noted that under the current management, BEQAEB has exceeded expectations in promoting quality assurance, capacity development, and efficient service delivery.

Similarly, the Benue State chapter of the Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria (PTA), led by Chief Godwin Agbo, expressed satisfaction with the reforms introduced by the Board and its commitment to advancing Governor Alia’s educational vision.

“On behalf of parents and teachers across the state, we are proud of the innovative approach introduced by BEQAEB. We pray for the sustainability of these reforms and the continued progress of the education sector in Benue State,” Agbo stated.

He added that parents and teachers remain committed to supporting the Board to ensure that its reforms deliver tangible benefits for the overall development of education in the state.

The statement further highlighted that, for the first time in the history of the BECE in the state, there were no reported cases of shortages of examination question papers. It also noted the timely deployment and coordination of examination personnel, describing the achievement as highly commendable.

In addition, principals and school administrators reportedly expressed satisfaction with the quality and standard of examination questions, noting that they were properly aligned with the approved curriculum and reflected the Board’s commitment to maintaining educational standards.

Comrade Oduma maintained that Governor Hyacinth Alia remains committed to transforming the education sector in the overall interest of the Benue child. He commended the Governor’s unwavering focus on educational development and his efforts to build a brighter future for the state’s children.

In a related development, principals and heads of post-primary schools across Benue State also commended the Executive Secretary of BEQAEB for introducing innovations that have modernized the Board’s operations and aligned its services with international best practices.

The civil society organizations called on all stakeholders to continue supporting the Board’s reform agenda in order to advance the educational vision of the Alia administration and promote the welfare of the Benue child.
