Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is making the same mistake that led to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) losing the 2023 election.

Umeh who said this while explaining the reason behind the decision of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) to zone its presidency to the Southern part of Nigeria, was reported to have said this.

Fielding questions on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ interview, Umeh said the NDC took the decision to complete the remaining four years of the eight-year tenure of the South.

“It is impossible to challenge the Southern Nigerian, knowing that they are entitled to two terms in office,” the lawmaker said.

He said “NDC was able to rise to the occasion by doing the needful. In politics you must do what will make you succeed. You must have a sense of equity, a sense of balance, something that will draw people to you.

“The African Democratic Congress, ADC, could not do zoning. The PDP lost the 2023 election because of zoning. So it is surprising that the ADC with all the efforts we made and the strength intermask decided to make the same mistake again.

“NDC has risen to the occasion and knowing that there is no way you can come and challenge the Southern Nigeria in this election, where they are entitled to two terms in office; eight years.

“Because in the last dispensation, eight years when it shifted to the turn of the South, it became necessary that any right thinking person should be able to take candidates from the southern part of Nigeria.”
