2027: We Are Already Facing Confusion – Dalung Slams Opposition Coalition

The former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has accused the opposition coalition of not meeting the expectations of Nigerians.

Dalung was quoted to have said this on Friday when he featured as a guest on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ in an interview.

He bemoaned that the coalition that would have salvaged Nigeria in the 2027 general elections has been overtaken by greed.

Nigerians’ expectations were cut short by the split among leaders of the opposition, he said.

The ex-minister said: “Greed has taken over. Then you see the flowering of individual ambition and interest, and the list of presidential candidates seems to have no end.

“The opposition political elites are more interested in their personal ambition to access power and that is why they are fragmented from one political party to the other.

“Nigeria has returned to the politics of the First Republic where regions had their political parties. The election is already divided along those lines, as almost all the zones have presidential hopefuls.

So eventually in 2027 we can have a serious confusion as we move forward to election, because everyone now will hold on to his region. The candidates will concentrate on votes from their own regions.”
