According to reports, armed terrorists have threatened to assault certain towns in Niger State’s Borgu Local Government Area if they don’t buy food and other necessities.

The armed group reportedly emerged from the Kainji National Park and attacked four communities: Dakara, Gbenji Gidazana, Kpeya/Biyan, and Giragbasso/Imile.

According to reports, the terrorists gave community leaders a total of ₦12 million so they could buy the demanded goods.

According to the agreement, Kpeya/Biyan and Giragbasso/Imile villages earned ₦2.3 million apiece, while Dakara and Gbenji Gidazana villages received ₦3.8 million each.

Bags of rice, sugar, salt, cartons of pasta and spaghetti, gallons of palm oil, cooking oil, Maggi spice, and powdered milk are just a few of the goods that the armed organization has requested.

A military response was apparently triggered in some of the impacted regions when a community leader alerted security personnel.

Motorcycles thought to be part of the armed gang were recovered during the operation, and some of the attackers were apparently neutralized.

However, the Niger State Police Command declined to respond right away, thus authorities have not yet formally confirmed the occurrence.
