President Bola Tinubu has called the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.
Tinubu said this in his congratulatory message to the governor on his victory at Saturday’s governorship election.
It was recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the election on Sunday morning.
Tinubu hailed the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct and for entrusting Governor Oyebanji with their mandate. He also appreciated the law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order.
Tinubu charged INEC to continue to hold peaceful, free, fair and credible election as the country approaches the Osun governorship election in August and the general election next year.
With his victory in the election by a wide margin, Oyebanji has emerged as the first governor to be re-elected consecutively in the history of Ekiti State.
Governor Oyebanji’s first term saw major strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development on his agenda.
“The renewed mandate is thus a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance,” the President said in a statement released through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
