Nigerian Man Deported From US For Domestic Violence, Criminal Offences

The United States has deported a Nigerian, Ayodeji Ajayi, who was convicted of multiple offences including domestic violence.

This was revealed by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a statement published on its official 𝕏 account on Tuesday, it was reported.

Ajayi entered the country on a student visa nearly 20 years ago and has remained in the country illegally, the agency said.

“Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, of Nigeria, entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and subsequently dropped out of school, but did not leave the country,” the statement read.

Ajayi, ICE said, did not leave the US after school but built up a lengthy criminal record.

Instead, he stayed in the US and started building a long rap sheet that includes convictions for domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation and obstruction, the agency said.

His criminal record also included charges of “kidnapping, rape and family neglect,” it said.

The agency said it deported people under the immigration enforcement policies of President Donald Trump.

It said, “Thanks to @POTUS’ promise to remove criminal illegal aliens from this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly.”

Ajayi would be deported from the country, the agency said, but it did not say when the deportation took place or give further details about the offences, including where the convictions took place or the status of the further criminal charges.

The deportation comes as the Trump administration continues a crackdown on undocumented immigrants with criminal records, with immigration authorities stepping up enforcement actions and removals across the United States.
