The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Lamido Yuguda as Chairman of the Board of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) .
This was confirmed after consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions presented by its Chairman, Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East).
His nomination was submitted by President Bola Tinubu on July 9, 2026, and was subsequently confirmed as Chairman of the AMCON Board by the Senate.

Recall that President Tinubu had written to the Senate on August 21, 2023, to confirm the appointment of Lamido Yuguda Abubakar as Chairman of the Board of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the request in a letter during plenary.
The nomination, he said, was in accordance with Section 10(1)(a) of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2019, as amended.
“I am pleased to forward for the Senate’s confirmation the appointment of Mr Lamido Yuguda Abubakar as Chairman of the Board of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria,” the letter partly reads.
