Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised women to look beyond the excitement of being chosen by a man when considering a relationship or marriage.
Speaking on her podcast, the actress said women should not automatically accept a proposal just because a man is interested in them or ready to settle down.
Adegbite argued that the more important question is whether the man is the right person for the woman.
“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you,” she said.
She explained that a successful relationship requires more than simply being attracted to one another. According to her, couples should be able to love, support and build together.
Adegbite also dismissed the idea that age should be the primary consideration when choosing a partner.
She said women should be open to men who are younger, older or their age if the person possesses the qualities necessary for a healthy partnership.
The actress further addressed women who are older than their prospective partners.

She warned them not to accept younger men simply because their attention makes them feel attractive or desired.
Instead, she encouraged them to examine whether the man is respectful, emotionally mature and genuinely interested in building a future with them.
“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable,” Adegbite said.
She said women should choose a younger partner only if he respects them, supports them and provides emotional security.
Adegbite added that women who have children should pay particular attention to how a prospective partner relates to their children.
“Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you,” she said.
The actress ultimately encouraged women to prioritise compatibility and emotional maturity rather than rushing into relationships because someone has expressed interest in them.
