2027 Elections: FCT Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu, Declare Support for NASS Candidates

Stakeholders across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office and declared their support for candidates seeking election to the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Saturday at a rally organised in Abuja by the FCT Stakeholders Assembly.

The stakeholders also endorsed Senator Philip Aduda for the FCT senatorial seat, Mr John Gabaya for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency and Mr Danladi Chiya for the Abuja South Federal Constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, challenged supporters of President Tinubu to ensure victory at their respective polling units in the forthcoming elections.

He described the 2027 general elections as a critical opportunity for residents of the nation’s capital to correct past electoral mistakes and unite behind a development-driven political agenda.

Under a directive tagged “Operation Deliver Your Polling Unit”, the minister emphasised that individual political responsibility at the grassroots level would be a key measure of commitment to the re-election campaign.

“Deliver your polling unit, deliver your ward, deliver your local government. I don’t want to hear ‘I lost my polling unit, but we won.’ There is no grammar like that.

“If you lose your polling unit, don’t tell me you won, because you never contributed to the victory,” he said.

Wike also questioned the performance and accessibility of some serving National Assembly members, urging voters to support candidates with proven records of community engagement and service.

He described Aduda as a trusted political figure capable of representing and protecting the interests of FCT residents if elected to the Senate.

Highlighting the achievements of the Tinubu administration, Wike announced measures aimed at strengthening local governance and traditional institutions in the territory.

He said President Tinubu had elevated the status of the FCT traditional institution and disclosed that official Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) would be distributed to traditional rulers before December in recognition of their contributions to peace and stability.

On the Rainbow Coalition, the minister explained that the initiative was designed to unite political parties behind President Tinubu without requiring them to relinquish their respective political identities.

He commended the FCT chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for supporting the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to promote political cooperation beyond party affiliations.

According to him, the coalition is driven by the need for unity and inclusive development rather than narrow partisan interests.

Earlier, the President of the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, Dr Aliyu Kwali, said the rally was organised to appreciate the infrastructure development recorded across the territory’s six area councils under Wike’s leadership.

Citing newly commissioned infrastructure projects, including critical bypass routes linking Gude with Kwali and Abaji, Kwali described the Assembly as a non-partisan platform bringing together the territory’s diverse religious, ethnic and political groups.

“Our common interest is to deliver, Mr President come 2027, to deliver Distinguished Senator Aduda and our National Assembly candidates.

“We have come here to tell the whole world that come January 16, 2027, we shall deliver one million votes for Tinubu,” he said.

Also speaking, the Renewed Hope Ambassador Coordinator in the FCT, Mr Abdullahi Adamu Candido, described Wike’s appointment as FCT MinisterHe said the Tinubu administration had brought democratic dividends and governance closer to the people, adding that indigenous communities were beginning to enjoy greater representation and inclusion in government.

Candido pledged the support of the Renewed Hope movement for President Tinubu’s re-election and expressed confidence that the APC would win the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the APC National Assembly candidates, Aduda commended President Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister, saying the administration had recorded significant achievements in infrastructure and human capital development.

He urged indigenous people and other residents to sustain their support for the President, assuring them that the candidates, if elected, would pursue legislation to promote good governance and accelerate development across the territory.

The FCT Chairman of the APC, Mr Ishaku Tanko, also praised Wike for fostering political cooperation across party lines, describing the Rainbow Coalition as a new approach to politics without bitterness.

His PDP counterpart, Mr Samaila Dogara, equally endorsed the initiative, saying President Tinubu’s decision to appoint a minister from outside the FCT political establishment had given the territory a stronger voice in the Federal Government.

Similarly, the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Maikalangu, endorsed President Tinubu’s second-term ambition on behalf of the six area council chairmen.

Maikalangu, who is also the FCT Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), expressed confidence that residents of the territory would vote massively for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections. as a blessing to the territory.
