Brig-Gen. Sani Kukasheka-Usman, Rtd, a former director of Army Public Relations, claims that the military was shocked by the attempted coup against President Bola Tinubu.

According to Usman, the military now recognizes how crucial it is to align with Nigerian society.

In an interview with Arise Television, he said that the military has undergone a 15-year transition.

The subtleties of democracy, so to speak, and after going through that, we have, of course, enjoyed continuous democratic governance for 26 years.

“I’m not carrying a brief for the military or society, but I believe that matter has been resolved since they were both shocked.

“The Director of Defense Information recently made a statement, I believe yesterday, in which he mentioned their October statement and stated that it is an update regarding the issue, giving a renewed understanding.”

They discussed acts of indiscipline, overthrow discipline, violations of service standards, and, of course, an attempt to overthrow democratic governance after conducting an investigation and unquestionably confirming their facts.

“So naturally, I believe they now understand to be on the same page with Nigerian society, because the more enlightened people are, the easier it is for them to be governed, because they will understand and even participate in the, you know, governing process,” he stated.
