Sanwo-Olu Praises Flutterwave for Handling $50 Billion Transactions Across 36 Nations

In praising Flutterwave’s accomplishments and its founders, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the vital role that opportunity and resilience play in propelling Nigeria’s development.

Speaking during the week’s opulent “The Delborough Lagos” for the fintech company’s tenth anniversary inaugural gala night, Sanwoolu emphasized the significance of enabling young Nigerians to attain worldwide success.

Sanwoolu reflected on the development of Nigeria’s telecom system, pointing out the difficulties of past decades when placing international calls was expensive and time-consuming.

He commended the leadership of former Presidents Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone and Olusegun Obasanjo for creating the framework that allowed for the nation’s advancement in both technology and the economy.

The governor praised Olugbenga Agboola (GB), the founder and CEO of Flutterwave, for revolutionizing payment infrastructure and building a platform that has handled more than $50 billion in transactions in just a decade.

In order to establish Nigeria as a global leader, Sanwoolu urged the country to develop its talent and encourage creative endeavors. He stated, “We must give young Nigerians the opportunity to fly.”

Along with praising Dr. Cosmas Maduka and other influential figures in technology and finance, he also emphasized Lagos’ willingness to host companies that promote expansion and global collaborations.

To ensure that Nigeria’s youth can reach their full potential and make significant contributions to the nation’s development, Sanwoolu called for ongoing investments in education and infrastructure.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, former President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo (GCON) of Nigeria were among those who flocked to the esteemed “The Delborough Lagos” for the gala night.

Also in attendance were Dr. Cosmas Maduka, the founder of the Coscharis Group; Ernest Ndukwe, the chairman of the MTN Nigeria board of directors; and Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, the founder and CEO of the Stanel Group and The Delborough Lagos.

Entertainment personalities such as singer Tiwa Savage, former housemates Dorathy and Erica from Big Brother Naija, and actress Omotola Jalade were also drawn to the event, along with other prominent people from a variety of fields.
