Rabi Umar, the chief judge of Bauchi State, swore in recently appointed justices of the Sharia Court and charged them with administering justice with honesty, fairness, and a strong sense of accountability.

The oath-taking ceremony took place on Wednesday in Bauchi at the High Court No. 1 premises.

Justice Umar urged judges to carry out their duty without fear or favor, saying that the judiciary is still the last hope for the average person.

Umar further emphasized the importance of justice, thoroughness, and rigorous adherence to the law, pointing out that judicial officials’ actions have a significant impact on the public’s confidence in the judiciary.

She warned the judges not to issue orders outside of their authority, especially ones that prevent security agencies from doing their legal obligations.

Any misbehavior would not be accepted, she warned.

The Chief Judge emphasized the value of professionalism, ethical conduct, and ongoing education.

She asked the judges to defend the trust placed in them after a stringent screening procedure.

According to Umar, the recently appointed judges are anticipated to handle a range of civil cases.

“They will also manage land, family, and business disputes within their jurisdictions, strengthening justice delivery at the grassroots level,” she stated.

The CJ also praised the appointing committee and Judicial Service Commission members for their diligence and openness during the screening process.

Mr. Muhammad Salihu conveyed gratitude for the chance to serve on behalf of the appointments.
He promised that the judges would carry out their responsibilities honestly and diligently.
