Anambra Police Adopts Strategic Monitoring To Boost Operational Efficiency

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama has instituted a strategic monitoring mechanism thru the Command’s Operational Control Rooms to closely monitor checkpoints, patrol teams and other operational activities across the State.

The initiative is designed to sustain effective policing, accountability and professionalism, following feedback received at the recent Anambra Security Stakeholders’ Interactive Sessions across the three Senatorial Districts.

It will also stop extortion, harassment and other abuses against the public by police personnel.

The Command’s Operational Control Rooms, under the new strategy, will have a closer watch over patrol formations and checkpoints while Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Team Commanders will be expected to give account of activities of personnel posted in strategic locations.

Reports and complaints of misconduct, extortion or any other unprofessional conduct will be received, monitored and escalated for appropriate action in a timely manner.

“The Command will continue to provide effective security and to protect the lives and property of the Anambra residents, no police officer will be allowed to abuse the responsibility given to him or her by the Nigeria Police Force to exploit members of the public.

“Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Team Commanders will ensure strict compliance of the directive, any personnel found engaging in extortion or other forms of misconduct will face appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with the law and established regulations,” he explained

The Command also reiterated its commitment to professional, people-oriented and accountable policing and assured members of the public that credible complaints will be attended to promptly and appropriate action will be taken.
