Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno State, has given N150 million to the families of the three military soldiers who were killed in recent attacks in the state.

As part of Governor Zulum’s ongoing support for the families of dead heroes and military personnel injured in action during counter-insurgency operations throughout the state, the gesture was given on behalf of the state government.

The governor offered support to families of volunteer soldiers killed in action, including scholarship programs for their orphaned children, in addition to military and security personnel.

Governor Zulum visited the families of the late Lieutenant Colonels Umar Farouq, Salihu Iliyasu, and Aliyu Saidu Paiko yesterday in an attempt to establish a personal connection with the grieving family.

The governor initially paid a visit to the late Lt. Col. Salihu Iliyasu’s family in Abuja, where the deceased’s wives, Na’ima and Rakiya, welcomed him. He paid respect to the officer’s service to the country and offered his condolences.

“I would like to offer the bereaved family my sincere condolences on behalf of the Borno State government and people.” The late Iliyasu was a devoted and hardworking national servant whose efforts would never be forgotten, according to Zulum. He then gave the family a check for N50 million.

After that, Governor Zulum traveled to the states of Niger and Kano, where he gave the relatives of the late Lieutenant Colonels Aliyu Saidu Paiko and Umar Farouq checks totaling N50 million apiece.

For their bravery, patriotism, and sacrifices in the continuing counterinsurgency operations, he praised the fallen commanding officers.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the families of officers and men who paid the ultimate price in defense of the country by announcing plans to visit the families of other officers who were killed or reported missing in action during the ongoing military operations.

Additionally, he prayed for the deceased’s souls to rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and for God to give their families the resilience to deal with the irreversible loss.

Dr. Aminu Chiroma, Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, Kaka Shettima, senior stateman Dr. Musa Inuwa Kubo, and Permanent Secretary of Government House Mustapha Ali Busguma accompanied the governor on the visit.
