Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ran for president with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has asked Nigerians living in Nigeria and abroad to make sure they vote in the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso, a leader in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the request in a video posted to his official 𝕏 account on Monday night.

The former governor of Kano State told Nigerians, especially young people, to quickly finish registering to vote with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the next elections.

He also told Nigerians to sign up with the ADC, which is the coalition party’s way of getting rid of President Bola Tinubu.

He said, “Fellow Nigerians, it’s time for every Nigerian, young and old, in the cities and the villages, at home and abroad, to take two important steps:

“Don’t wait to register to vote with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Sign up with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Nafi’u Bala Gombe, the factional leader of the ADC, says that talking to Kwankwaso is pointless because of the way he has treated Northerners in the past.

Gombe said these things during an interview with Premier Radio in Kano. He said that Kwankwaso didn’t do what was best for Northern Nigeria when he had the chance.

Gombe also said that Kwankwaso was making things worse in the North and that he missed the chance to make a difference in the region.

He said, “Kwankwaso called me and said, ‘This is the way out for the North.'” I said no. It’s pointless to talk about the North with people like you.

“The North looked up to you. You had the chance to save it and make a difference, but you didn’t. You people are the ones who killed the North.

Bala also said that Kwankwaso’s decision to run in the last general election hurt the region politically, especially since former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was also running.
