President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to check out and approve Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the request on the floor of the Senate. He then sent it to the Committee of the Whole for more legislative action.
Akpabio told the committee to get back to him as soon as possible.
The nomination came just a few days after Tinubu fired Wale Edun from his jobs as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, along with Ahmed Dangiwa.
The President also wrote to the Senate to ask for their approval of Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions got the nomination and is expected to report back within a week.
Tinubu also asked for confirmation that Benedict Umeno would be reappointed to the Code of Conduct Bureau as a member from the South-East.
The Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption was given the request and told to send in its report within a week.
