Dan Ulasi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says that Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has a better than 60% chance of becoming president of Nigeria.

Ulasi reportedly said this on Thursday while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Ulasi said that the growing political alignment between Peter Obi and former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso is part of ongoing efforts to build national consensus before future elections.

Ulasi stressed that both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have a lot of power in their own regions and that their working together could start a new era of growth and development for this country.

He said, “The Peter Obi, Kwankwaso effect is part of the process we are going through to build bridges across this country.” In the North, you don’t just say Kwankwaso, and in the South, you don’t just say Peter Obi.

“So, if God wills it, the two of them will come together and one of them will become president, as we hope. It is an unwritten rule that the South will have eight years and the North has had eight years under Buhari, so we have four more years to finish the southern term.

“The idea of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso is going to be an exciting and very strong political process that will bring about a new era of development and progress for this country if it works out, because only God knows what will happen tomorrow. That’s why we are supporting Peter Obi.”

“Based on what’s going on in the country, he (Peter Obi) has a better than 60% chance of becoming President.”
