President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. This follows the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who resigned to contest the 2027 elections.
Amb Odumegwu-Ojukwu was Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Similarly, the President has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.
Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a Kogi State indigene, was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations until his nomination.
Enikanolaiye is a veteran public servant and distinguished diplomat with over three decades of exemplary service in Nigeria’s foreign service.
He has previously worked as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served in key diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi.
The President said the appointments are part of continuous efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture for greater efficiency, strategic engagement and stronger global partnerships.
The statement by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu “congratulates the appointees and encourages them to work hard to promote Nigeria’s national interest, enhance economic diplomacy, encourage regional stability and protect the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad”.
