Rufai Oseni, a Nigerian broadcast journalist, has stated that the defection of the former presidential candidate, Peter Obi from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is the beginning of more troubles for the party.

Oseni made this statement on Monday during ARISE Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ while speaking on emerging political alignments ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Oseni said the recent expansion of the NDC may soon be followed by internal and legal crises, alleging that there are moves within political circles to prevent Peter Obi from contesting in the 2027 election.

He said that based on political mapping by major parties including the ADC and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi is viewed as the only opposition figure that could pose a serious electoral threat to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

He said, “I think it will be the beginning of more troubles for the NDC because the litigation will start. The litigations on even registration of the NDC.

So it will start because, you see, the idea here is Peter Obi not being on the ballot. And that’s the problem. All the forces will do everything to make sure Obi does not get on the ballot.

I do a lot of political mapping and I know people who do political mapping, the ADC, APC, all the political parties have done political mapping. Obi is the only person who can push President Tinubu in this election.

“The top strategy is to keep Obi off the ballot. “That’s why there was a crisis in the ADC.
