According to Don Jazzy, the Nigerian record producer cum music executive, Michael Collins Ajereh, singer Johnny Drille is the best musician in the Nigerian music industry.
Don Jazzy says Johnny Drille has no rival in the Nigerian music industry – It was reported that recently in an episode of the Crea8torium podcast, Don Jazzy said Johnny Drille has no rival in the Nigerian music industry.
The Mavin boss described Johnny Drille’s music as unique and stressed that he is versatile.
“Look at the Nigerian music industry today, there is no one like Johnny Drille,” he said. He is a world unto himself. He is like the best musician – the whole musician that I know. He is flexible. He mixes, writes, and sings. He does all the things.
“And he’s also a great performer, he sounds the same in the studio as he does live.
Meanwhile, Nigerian female sensational singer, Tiwa Savage, has spoken about the struggles she faced when she transitioned from R&B to Afrobeats after her return to Nigeria in 2012.
Inspired by the growth of the Nigerian music industry Tiwa Savage began her career abroad as a backup singer for artists like George Michael and Mary J, before returning to Nigeria and signing with Mavin Records.
Tiwa Savage said she was able to cross from R&B to Afrobeats because her former label boss, Don Jazzy made her believe that talent is unlimited. In an interview with TVC, she said;
The ‘Kele Kele Love’ crooner said Don Jazzy opened her mind to a lot of different things and made her believe she could do anything if she concentrated on it.
Tiwa Savage also said she has no regrets about coming back to Nigeria and switching from R&B to Afrobeats.
