Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to strongly implement the idea that he patriotically stated at the Nigerian Judges’ Conference and praised him for reflecting the ageless spirit of the Magna Carta.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Okechukwu pointed out that one of the most revered pillars of the rule of law is still Clause 40 of the 1215 Magna Carta, which the President emphasized.
“To no one will we sell, to no one will we deny or delay right or justice,” the clause says.
He underlined that this idea continues to be the worldwide benchmark for the rule of law, guaranteeing that justice is equitable, reachable, and never reliant on riches, power, or royal favor.
Okechukwu praised President Tinubu for his candid comments at the Judges’ Conference, in which he publicly addressed the public’s concerns with the Nigerian legal system’s delays, lack of integrity, and access to justice.
“We must acknowledge, with candor, that the public’s perception of the judicial process has not always been favorable,” the president declared. Delays, integrity issues, and uncertainty over access to justice have all been voiced by the public.
“These opinions cannot be disregarded, regardless of how well-founded they may be. They urge us to think, to change, and to rebuild.
Because, in the end, justice is for the people, not the bench or the bar. Our country’s stability is built on their trust in the legal system.
Okechukwu claims that President Tinubu has already initiated the fundamental elements of judiciary modernization, capacity building, reforms, and revival.
“A decisive combination of discipline, a relentless fight against corruption, welfare for the masses, and deep, consistent implementation of the President’s vision is now required,” he declared.
