Primate Elijah Ayodele has berated the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, saying the government lacks the willpower to confront insecurity squarely.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric said both the federal government and security agencies know the individuals and groups responsible for insecurity across the country but have failed to take decisive action against them.
Ayodele alleged that the insecurity problem in Nigeria started because some politicians once employed armed groups for political purposes but later lost control of them.
“The Nigerian government is not taking the issue of security seriously because it is looking like a curse to the Nigerian government,” he said.
He further said, “Secret of insecurity is known to the government and all service chiefs but they are scared.
The cleric also alleged that some traditional rulers are linked to insecurity in parts of the country, asking why authorities have not taken action against those allegedly involved.
Ayodele said insecurity has now become a business in Nigeria and warned that the situation may continue unless the government is ready to take tough and decisive actions.
