Twelve members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have lost their bids to return to the hallowed chamber ahead of the 2027 general elections after they lost at the primaries at the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
Three of the twelve are principal officers of the House – Hon. Noheem Adams (Majority Leader), Hon. Fatai Mojeed (Chief Whip) and Hon. Setonji David (Deputy Chief Whip).

In addition to the three main officers, nine other lawmakers also did not make the party’s final list of successful candidates. They include Desmond Elliot (Surulere Constituency I) and Gbolahan Ogunleye (Ikorodu Constituency I), son of former Deputy Governor and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Pa Abiodun Ogunleye.

Others who did not make the list include Lanre Afini (Lagos Island I), Stephen Ogundipe (Oshodi/Isolo I), Obafemi Saheed (Kosofe II), Bonu Solomon (Badagry II), Emmanuel Olotu (Ifako-Ijaiye II), Jubreel Abdulkareem (Agege II) and Samuel Apata (Somolu 2).
Others who secured return tickets in the primaries include: Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa I), Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda, Abiodun Tobun (Epe I), Sylvester Ogunkelu (Epe II), Temitope Adedeji (Ifako-Ijaiye I), Ladi Ajomale (Oshodi/Isolo II), Suraju Tijani (Ojo II), Ege Olusegun (Ojo I) and Age-Sulaimon Wale Rauf (Amuwo-Odofin II) among others.
Meanwhile, candidates believed to have the backing of the Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, in both Agege I and Agege II lost their bids. Gbenga Abiola Agbelebu won Agege I, and Sule Shakiru Akindele won the Agege II ticket.
Obasa, however, and Mosunmola Sangodara, member for Surulere 2, did not contest for re-election to the House.
