Attacks On Peter Obi Won’t Stick, Says Sam Amadi

The Director of Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, Sam Amadi, said the attacks against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, have not been able to reduce his popularity because there are no credible allegations of corruption or scandal against him.

Amadi made the remarks on Saturday in a post on X while reacting to a debate ignited by comments from actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, about Obi and his supporters, Naija News understands.

Okonkwo’s recent comments, where he claimed he would expose information that could spell doom for Obi’s political career if supporters of the ex-Anambra State governor continued to attack him online, had been alluded to by an X user, @RealQueenBee.

Responding to the post, Amadi stated that Obi’s political appeal was still potent as his critics had not produced factual evidence that could damage his image.

“Attacks against @PeterObi don’t stick much because he has little or nothing that is scandalous or corrupt. “All the other presidential candidates today cannot boast of that record,” Amadi wrote.

His political popularity is not hurt because his traducers are merely mouthing elitist derision and not bombing him with any factual revelation.

“He is still the best on the presidential slate available today.”

He said that most of the criticisms against Obi were elitist attacks and not evidence-based revelations of wrongdoing.

He said Obi’s record in public service protected him from political attacks, adding that other presidential contenders could not boast of such freedom from corruption allegations.

“Despite the continued attacks from political opponents, Obi is still the best of the current crop of presidential aspirants,” he said.
