Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has called two important witnesses to testify in the trial of former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, who is accused of committing a $6.23 million fraud.
The court is expecting Jim Obazee and Eloho Okpoziakpo to be witnesses on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Emefiele on a revised 20-count charge that includes criminal breach of trust, forgery, abuse of office, and conspiracy to get money by lying.
Justice Muazu ordered the witnesses to come to court at 9:00 a.m. on April 27, 2026, and stay there until the case is over.
The court told them to present evidence, such as newspaper articles about the controversial Naira redesign policy.
The judge said that both witnesses were involved in the investigations that led to the charges against Emefiele and are expected to clear up any questions about the policy.
The case is part of ongoing legal action against the former head of the apex bank, who prosecutors say stole $6.23 million.
