I Can’t Date Younger Men – 62-Year-Old Mo Abudu Reveals Her Dating Preference

Media entrepreneur and filmmaker Mo Abudu has opened up about the standards she has established for romantic relationships, explaining that financial independence and mutual respect are central to her decision to date anyone.

The 62-year-old made the disclosure during a conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she discussed heartbreak, dating preferences and the expectations she has for a potential partner.

Abudu said she had reached a stage in life where she was no longer interested in allowing romantic relationships to determine her emotional well-being. According to her, although heartbreak may have been an experience during her younger years, she now has different priorities.

She insisted that if she became emotional or cried, it would most likely be because of work-related matters rather than a man.

“I even cried recently. Heartbreak. Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. Heartbreak. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age,” she said.

The filmmaker continued that she could recall a time when relationship issues might have affected her more deeply, but she no longer sees herself reacting to romantic disappointments in the same way.

“If I cry, it’s not because of man. It may be because of my work. A man cannot make me cry. Okay, surely maybe when I was younger. I mean, we’ve all been there,” she said.

Asked about the possibility of accepting a date from an interested man, Abudu explained that she would assess the individual before making a decision. She said her age, personal goals and life experiences have helped her establish clear expectations.

“I’m 62 years old, right, and I have set certain standards and goals for myself. So if you can meet my standards and my expectations, maybe you can take me out, maybe you can’t,” she stated.

Abudu also explained that she does not require a man to provide for her financially because she is capable of supporting herself and her family.

“I can pretty much provide for myself. I can provide for my family, which I do,” she said.

She added that she would not welcome a relationship that placed unnecessary burdens on her, stressing that a potential partner should contribute positively to her life.

On age preferences, the filmmaker said she was uncomfortable with the idea of dating younger men and would rather choose someone her age or slightly older.

She linked the preference to her traditional outlook and explained that respect for a partner is tied, in part, to the person’s accomplishments.

According to Abudu, a man seeking a relationship with her should have achieved something meaningful by his stage in life. She maintained that independence, achievement and respect remain important considerations in her approach to dating.
