Ibadan Indigenes blast Fayose over Olubadan remarks, says he can’t set Ibadan on fire

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), has warned former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, not to drag the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), into his political battles, saying his recent comments about the revered monarch was “highly provocative and unreasonable”.

The CCII Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Olomide, in a statement, advised Fayose to fight his political battle without dragging the Olubadan into partisan fight.

In a statement, CCII said it had earlier warned Fayose against dragging the Olubadan into his political fight, saying it was unnecessary, disrespectful and capable of generating unnecessary tension to continue to look for ways to link the monarch to partisan politics.

Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, the CCII President-General, condemned Fayose’s comments during a recent appearance on ‘Politics Today’ on Channels Television. Chief Ajewole said he was disappointed.

Speaking on an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Fayose accused the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, of demolishing his political structure in the South West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“He took all my structures and did a lot that is not fair in party politics,” the ex-governor said.

Fayose also claimed he had the backing of influential people in Ibadan in his political struggle against Makinde, saying: “The present Olubadan was a contemporary. “We are all working together. Even the Olubadan, all Makinde’s enemies are working together.

Ajewole said in his reaction that Fayose had again ignored the warning given by the council earlier by trying to drag the revered monarch into partisan politics.

“The comments attributed to former Governor Ayodele Fayose are very provocative and unreasonable,” he said. They can create a wrong impression about the revered Olubadan institution and unduly heat up the political atmosphere.
