INEC Publishes Candidates’ Credentials For 2027 Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the personal details and academic qualifications submitted by presidential and National Assembly candidates of political parties for the 2027 General Election.

The details, published on the Commission’s official website, contain candidates’ educational qualifications and other information in Form EC9 as required by the Electoral Act 2026.

The INEC said the publication was in compliance with the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election and formed part of the nomination papers submitted by candidates intending to contest the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold on January 16, 2027.

The particulars of the vice-presidential candidates nominated by the political parties were also released by the Commission, which said it would publish the particulars of governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates on August 29, 2026.

Form EC9 is to be published within 21 days of its receipt from political parties in terms of Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026.
