The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned potential candidates to avoid the temptation of making costly mistakes while setting up their profiles for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry registration.
According to JAMB, a minor error at the profile stage can lead to major challenges during the admission process.
The Board disclosed this in a fresh advisory video issued under its “JAMB Explained” series and posted on its X handle on Wednesday.
The advisory to “fresh candidates” highlighted errors in names and dates of birth as mistakes that could cause problems during the admission process.
Before you go ahead to create your JAMB profile to register for the UTME or Direct Entry, spare some time to confirm that the details such as your name, date of birth and others attached to the NIN are correct. “Why?” the board asked.
It said information on candidates was obtained from their records with the National Identity Management Commission and not generated or edited by JAMB.
“This means if there is any error with your name or date of birth, JAMB cannot change it after registration,” it read.
It also warned candidates against the presumption that getting an affidavit would automatically translate into the correction of their records with JAMB.
Such information is the basis of our records and we need to ensure that from the onset, the identity details of candidates are correct,” JAMB said.
Prospective candidates are advised to verify the accuracy of their details before creating the profile.
