Deji Adeyanju, a Nigerian activist and lawyer, says that most Nigerians are not ready for power to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Adeyanju said on an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast that most Nigerians want reliable power at important times of the day.
He said that what Nigerians want from their government is not too much to ask.
Adeyanju said that their expectations shouldn’t be seen as hard to meet because Nigerians are the easiest people to please.
“Do Nigerians even want 24 hours of light? Can they even afford it?” Nigerians just want to come home at 8 p.m. and see light so they don’t sweat while they sleep. They also want to see light at 7 a.m. so they can iron their clothes. After that, you can take the light and send it to factories. Nigerians don’t ask for much, and they are the easiest people to make happy. “How can this be too much?” he asked.
Adeyanju has also said that President Bola Tinubu is a tough opponent to beat, even in a fair and free contest.
Adeyanju said on the Honest Bunch Podcast that Tinubu is a strong political player.
He said that Tinubu knows how to win elections and keep power.
Adeyanju, who is known for criticizing Tinubu, praised his political skills, saying that even though there is a lot of opposition to his administration, the President has a special way of keeping control over Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Jagaban knows how to win, even in a free and fair election,” he said.
Adeyanju said. He also praised the president’s amazing ability to control politics, saying that “32 governors are working for him” and that even politicians like Alex Otti are loyal to him.
Adeyanju went on to say, “Jagaban is above everyone else,” stressing that Tinubu’s network of supporters and allies, especially within the APC, makes him a powerful force in Nigerian politics.
Adeyanju also talked about how good Tinubu is at making alliances, saying that the president’s political machine is the best in the world. He said that the APC is in charge and that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is the only party that could really challenge the APC’s power.
