NYSC Urges Bayelsa Corps Members to Embrace Entrepreneurship and Job Creation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Bayelsa State, Mr Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, has urged corps members to use the skills they acquire during service to establish businesses and create jobs rather than depend solely on paid employment.
Pepple gave the advice on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in-camp training for the 2026 Batch C Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Boro Town, Bayelsa State.

He said entrepreneurship could help corps members achieve financial independence, urging them to develop their skills through hard work, creativity and determination.

The state coordinator also encouraged them to take advantage of post-camp training opportunities to improve their skills and prepare to become employers of labour.
The Camp Director, Sir Raymond Anumaka Kennedy, said the six-day training was designed to introduce corps members to practical skills and business opportunities.
Kennedy added that affordable post-camp training programmes had been arranged to enable participants to improve their skills and gain more experience in their chosen fields.

The ceremony featured practical competitions in barbering, makeup artistry, fashion design, cosmetology, catering and leatherwork, where corps members demonstrated what they had learnt. Prizes were presented to outstanding participants.

The programme ended with a call on corps members to build on their training, explore digital and artificial intelligence skills, and work towards establishing businesses that could provide lasting livelihoods and employment opportunities beyond their service year
