Oyebamiji Accepts Democratic Outcome, Congratulates Osun Governor Adeleke

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory.

In a speech delivered in Osogbo on Saturday to leaders, members and supporters of the APC, Oyebamiji urged Governor Adeleke to protect the lives and property of all residents as the state moves beyond the election.

“I congratulated the governor in the spirit of democracy after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the election result,” he said.

He urged the governor to do his constitutional duty and protect the people, especially at this critical time after the elections.

He called for an investigation into the deaths of former Irewole Local Government chairman, Remi Abass; APC chairman in Atakumosa Local Government Area, Gbenga Ogbara; Mr. Dele Ayegbo, nephew of Wole Oke and Director-General of his 2026 Governorship Campaign Council; and more than 35 other victims, and an end to violence, harassment and intimidation allegedly targeting members and supporters of his party.

He said the killings must be thoroughly investigated by the police and those responsible must be brought to justice.

“The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith,” said the former APC candidate who expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives to political violence.

He added that attacks on innocent citizens and their businesses “must not be allowed to continue,” expressing concern at reports of attacks on small and medium-sized businesses based on the perceived political affiliations or non-allegiance of their owners to the Accord Party.

He said security and conducive environment for businesses were key to Osun’s economic growth, investment and employment prospects.

He appealed to his supporters to not lose heart, but to continue believing in democracy and in the institutions set up to defend democratic rights.

“We must close our ranks and strengthen our structures and work tirelessly to ensure that Mr. President and all our candidates win without any controversy in Osun State,” he said.

He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor Bisi Akande and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola for their support for his campaign and repositioning of the APC in the state.
