Fabiyi Oladimeji, the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC), has said that the Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket is not a good idea.
Oladimeji said that the ADC would only have the right number of votes in 2027 if they ran for president with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Obi.
Fabiyi told reporters in Abuja that the voting strength shown in the 2023 general election shows that an Obi/Kwankwaso pairing would not have enough votes to beat the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I hate to say this, but even Kwankwaso and Obi can’t give us the number. Atiku and Obi are the best numbers.
The three of them got about 14 to 15 million votes, while the President got about eight million. Nigerians will notice a difference if these groups work together.
“Atiku has said he will back whoever wins. Amaechi has said the same thing. He said, “This isn’t about personal ambition; it’s about saving the country.” We expect Peter Obi to make that promise as well.
