On Friday morning, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), went to Wadata Plaza, the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party’s National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, was said to have welcomed the Minister
Remember that the part of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that supports Wike recently took over the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
It was clear that their action came after the Nigeria Police opened the facility.
It is important to remember that the PDP has been in a long-running leadership crisis. On November 18, the National Working Committee, led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, clashed with the Wike-aligned Mohammed-led faction of the party at its National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC) confirmed the unsealing and takeover in a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
It said that any action that could lead to violence or trouble would not be allowed.
The PDP, led by Mohammed, praised the Nigeria Police Force for being professional and following the law. They said that the move shows a strong respect for constitutional order and due process.
