The Federal Government is working hard to ensure the release of children and other Nigerians in the hands of kidnappers and terrorist groups across the country, Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians.

The assurance was given by Shettima on Friday in Abuja after a special Jummat prayer held at the National Mosque as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

The administration remains committed to overcoming security challenges and to bringing long-lasting calm to affected communities, he said.

The Vice President said the government would continue to work towards ending violence and criminal activities, adding that the present security situation would not stop efforts to return normal life to Nigerians.

He said the citizens should continue praying for the country and each other.

He said the bond that unites Nigerians is stronger than the differences that exist among the people, stressing the need for unity as the nation confronts her challenges.

“I want to assure Nigerians of the unwavering commitment of President Bola Tinubu towards the restoration of peace and stability in the nation.

However long the night, the dawn will break. It may be stormy, but it will not rain forever.

“The government is irrevocably committed to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” Shettima said.
