Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has warned politicians against perpetrating violent acts during the campaign period.

He gave the warning in his third anniversary speech to the people of Akwa Ibom state on Friday, it was reported.

He said that the life of no man is worth the price of another man’s political ambition.

“As the political season begins, I urge our people to engage in the politics of ideas and not one of name-calling or character assassination. “We have kept the peace in our State because no single life is worth shedding for any one’s political ambition,” he said.

The governor called on the people to learn sportsmanship in politics, adding that politics is transient, but the spirit and bond of brotherhood will not be broken.

Eno, who said that he has kept to his promise and word, said that the political slogan now is Akwa Ibom United, assuring that the state will remain united and secure in the belief that an injury to one is an injury to all.

“Politics, as I said in my inaugural address, will come and go but the spirit and bond of our brotherhood will remain unbroken by the temporary passion of partisan politics. Let us imbibe the spirit of real sportsmanship in the game of politics.

“I had promised you that I would be the Governor for all Akwaibomites and so far, by the Grace of God, I have kept my word on that score. Today, our political slogan is Akwa Ibom United and as we go to the polls next year, we shall remain united, secure in our belief that an injury to one is an injury to all.

“I came as a peacemaker and I will leave office in 2031, by the Grace of God leave office as a peacemaker. I will continue to pastor Akwa Ibom State with the fear of God and the Holy Spirit. So help me God!
