Ambassador Lotanna Ikebunwa, who is running for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives seat for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has dismissed recent endorsements of President Bola Tinubu by some state governors.

Ikebunwa reportedly said that the endorsements didn’t mean much in politics.

Ikebunwa said during the opening of the ADC Good Governance Initiative at Anaedo Hall in Nnewi that the endorsements do not show what Nigerians want.

“The governors’ support for Tinubu is personal to them because the people aren’t with them. He said, “Nigerians are asking for change.”

He also said that a lot of people are staying away from the ruling party structures because they are having a hard time making ends meet.

The former president of the Students’ Union Government said he was sure he would win the 2027 elections.
He said that traders, young people, women, and other important people in the constituency are very supportive of him.

Ikebunwa criticized the current representative’s work, saying they weren’t doing a good job of representing the people and weren’t making any progress.

“We’re behind in everything.” He said, “There is no clean water, no federal presence, and no real support for businesses in Nnewi.”

He said that the constituency has fallen behind others when it comes to federal presence and programs that empower people.

The candidate also said that he had helped the party by giving it ward offices and other resources to improve its grassroots work.

He says that the initiative has helped the party get more members and work together better at the local level.

Chief Ibeokonkwo Michael, who was in charge of the event, said he was hopeful about Ikebunwa’s goal.
He said he thinks the candidate will win the ADC ticket and go to the National Assembly in 2027 to represent the constituency.
