Super Eagles legend, John Utaka has urged Victor Osimhen to consider a move to Real Madrid if Jose Mourinho is appointed as manager at the La Liga giants and asks for the Nigerian forward.

Osimhen is in the final stages of his second season with Galatasaray after helping the club to its 26th league title.

The forward has netted 15 goals and provided five assists in 22 league appearances this season, further cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.

Interest in the 25-year-old has not gone away, with speculation surfacing in each of the last three summer transfer windows.

New reports out of Spain are suggesting that Mourinho, who is currently the coach of Benfica, is talking to Real Madrid about possibly returning to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Portuguese coach is seen as a possible man to bring stability to the dressing room after a difficult season under Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa.

Madrid could be forced to find a new centre-forward with a major squad rebuild and Utaka believes Osimhen would be a perfect fit under Mourinho.

“If I was Osimhen I would go because if Mourinho has asked for him it means he really wants him. “Osimhen wants to win trophies and Real Madrid is a perfect fit,” Utaka told Brila.

Mourinho has been following Osimhen’s progress for years. The two met in Serie A when Mourinho was in charge of AS Roma during the striker’s time at Napoli. The coach has previously compared the Nigerian to Didier Drogba, but has also taken issue with aspects of his game.

Osimhen’s future is uncertain with Barcelona also monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Catalan club are reportedly eyeing him as a possible alternative to Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, who is reportedly valued at around €200m.

But Galatasaray are loath to sell and are said to have slapped a €150m price tag on the striker as they brace for increased interest.
