Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has called for calm and unity in the party.
He was also said to have invited former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar to come back to the APC. He made the appeal during a thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House, Lafia after he emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
The visit brought together leaders of the APC, government officials and supporters from various parts of the state. Governor Sule received the delegation and said it was a proud moment for the party, reiterating his support for Wadada’s candidacy and expressing confidence in his chances ahead of the 2027 election.
Sule also discussed the need for peace within the party after the primary election.
He urged members to avoid antagonism against opponents and maintain calm and respectful ties with each other, saying all who were vying for positions in the state were still members of the same political family.
He also assured him that he would allow Wadada space to lead without interference, except where necessary.
Speaking on the political development, Wadada recalled how he accepted defeat in a past primary and still worked for the success of the party.
He capitalised on that to appeal to Mohammed Adamu Abubakar who also contested the APC primary to come back and support the party’s mission in Nasarawa State and not be outside it.
“Those who are contesting against us are not our enemies. They believe too in Nasarawa State. Let us approach them with caution, not hatred. Let us love them.
“I conceded to a defeat in 2018 to 2019 and not only conceded but submitted myself to both the party and the government, which culminated in me spearheading the campaign council that delivered our proud engineer Abdullahi Sule.
I say to him: ‘Learn from me. When and if he does that he is not doing it for Wadada but he is doing it for Nasarawa State,” he said.
