The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has said it would picket South African companies in Nigeria over the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

Some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, in a statement to newsmen, said the association is mobilising to take decisive and lawful action by organising peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We unequivocally state that the ongoing persecution of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must end immediately.

“This will include large corporations like MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. Businesses are thriving in an atmosphere where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence elsewhere, which is morally indefensible.

The statement said, “This contradiction will no longer be tolerated.”
