Following his costly error in the Blues’ 5-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match on Wednesday, March 11, goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has been defended by Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior.

Although Jorgensen started ahead of Robert Sanchez, the home team’s lead was extended when Vitinha lobbed the ball into the net after Jorgensen’s pass was intercepted, resulting in PSG’s third goal.

Chelsea now has a challenging job ahead of next week’s return match at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior emphasized that errors are a necessary part of the game in a post-match speech. He said, “Players make mistakes sometimes.”

“Filip is not the first to make a football-related error.”

The Chelsea manager acknowledged that the last goal his team gave up was especially heartbreaking.

He remarked, “We are very close to being an outstanding team.”

We were still right in it, even at 4-2. The most difficult objective is the sixth one. I really need to figure this out.

Chelsea’s focus will now shift to Saturday’s Premier League match against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge, followed by the rematch against PSG.

Following his team’s 3-0 loss to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola set an unwelcome record.

Federico Valverde, a midfielder, scored all three goals at the Santiago Bernabeu, giving the Spanish team a significant lead going into next week’s second leg.

Guardiola’s first-leg Champions League knockout loss is now his joint-highest defeat, according to OptaJoe. The Spaniard has previously fallen 3-0 to Liverpool in the 2017–2018 quarterfinals and Barcelona in the 2014–2015 semifinals.

Manchester City will now turn their attention to this weekend’s Premier League matchup against West Ham United.
