Drug Enforcement: NDLEA Seizes Over 156,000 Tramadol Pills in Two Weeks

At least 156,575 tramadol pills and other illegal narcotics were found in five states and the Federal Capital Territory during the past two weeks, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The states were identified as Enugu, Anambra, Ondo, Lagos, and Ogun by NDLEA spokesperson Mr. Femi Babafemi in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday. He claimed that two suspects, Abdulrazak Bala and Lawal Salisu, had at least 156,380 pieces of the pills taken from them.

His reports state that on Saturday, July 29, two alleged drug dealers were taken into custody on the Gwagwalada-Abaji Highway in the Federal Capital Territory. He continued by saying that on Thursday, July 26, Femi Isiaka was detained at a “Skuchies” facility in Sagamu, Ogun, which was discovered by NDLEA agents.

“37 kg of Indian hemp, 195 Tramadol pills, 5,000 Diazepam tablets, and 216 Rophynol tablets were recovered from the factory.”

204 liters of “skuchies,” four refrigerators, four gas cylinders, and an industrial oven were also found.

“A container load of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, connected to a 30-year-old businessman, Stephen Eze, was seized at the Apapa seaport in Lagos on Tuesday, July 25,” Babafemi said.

On July 13, two containers of laughing gas that the suspect had brought from China were found at the Apapa Port.

“During a joint examination of the container designated SUDU7431605, which contained 8,336 canisters of nitrous oxide and pressure release nozzles, the third shipment was intercepted,” Babafemi continued.

He added that two suspects, Francis Diamond (26) and Adekunle Damilola (26), were detained in Ondo State’s Ita-Ogbolu Forest while in possession of 247.5 kg of Indian hemp.

According to the NDLEA spokesperson, on Wednesday, July 26, a Volkswagen Golf Car carrying 308 kg of Indian hemp was stopped at Airport Junction on Akure-Ogbese Road. A suspect, Farouk Umar (38), was taken into custody.

On Saturday, July 29, Chukwuma Nnaji, a 32-year-old suspect, was apprehended in a warehouse in Onuogba Eke in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Enugu State, along with 47 kg of “Skunk.”

During the operation, twelve kilograms of the same drug were also found in a prison shop.

In Uli town in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra, a grandfather named Boniface Ogwurlobi (62) and a man named Chimezie Onyenjuru were taken into custody along with 15g of cocaine, 127.7g of methamphetamine, and 49.415kg of Indian hemp.

On Friday, July 28, during a raid, something occurred.

Three suspects, Olasande Olutosin, Oleh Chiagozie, and Obamuro Baiyeri, who were detained with 2,608.3 kg of Indian hemp, were also given to the NDLEA by men from the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade.

“On Tuesday, July 25, they also stopped the truck delivering the material to the NDLEA’s Lagos State Command,” Babafemi said.
