Every goal scored by the Super Eagles versus DR Congo in Sunday’s pivotal CAF World Cup final play-off will win them $50,000.

It was acknowledged that this is a big incentive that was put in place to inspire the team before one of their most important matches leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Compared to the team’s semifinal victory over Gabon, when they were awarded $120,000, or $30,000 per goal, the improved package represents a significant increase.

Friends of the National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade, who have consistently supported the Eagles during the qualifications, contributed the prior award. During a stressful playoff phase, their involvement was generally acknowledged for boosting morale.

The sponsors have increased the stakes ahead of today’s match by paying $50,000 every goal in an effort to spur an outstanding performance.

The surge highlights the importance of the match, which will decide if Nigeria secures Africa’s only spot in the 2026 tournament’s intercontinental playoffs.

The Nigeria Football Federation has expressed gratitude for the financial support, pointing out its significant psychological advantages at this crucial time.

According to team management, the players saw the reward as a thank you for their hard work as well as an additional motivator to perform in front of millions of Nigerians.
