56 candidates have been disqualified by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State House of Assembly Screening Committee from running in the party’s upcoming primary.
Only 33 of the 98 candidates evaluated during the exercise, which took place between May 9 and 10, were approved by the committee, which was presided over by Muraine Ajibola.
According to the committee’s May 10 report, the impacted applicants did not fulfill the standards of the screening process.
Ajibola, committee secretary Ishake Yamawe, and another member Danjuma Samuel signed the report.
Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, and Tonye Cole, a past governorial candidate, were among the candidates dismissed.
Before the primaries, political tensions inside the Rivers APC are anticipated to rise as a result of the incident.
Chijoke Ihunwo, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and Sokari Goodboy are a few prominent members of Fubara’s group who did not pass the screening.
