Legendary American music executive Clive Davis has died at 94.

Davis, who discovered and helped shape some of the most iconic voices in the American music industry, died at his New York City home on Monday, it was learned.

Davis’s family also confirmed the death in a statement that said the deceased had been recently hospitalised in New York for an upper respiratory infection.

Davis will be greatly missed and his love will live on in the hearts of the family for the rest of their lives, the family said.

“To the world,” the statement continued, “our father was the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts and relentless pursuit of excellence created the soundtrack of countless lives.

“He discovered, mentored, and championed the greatest artists in the history of modern music, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will last for generations.

“To Clive’s family, he was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the center of our lives, the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love. Despite his remarkable professional achievements he never forgot what mattered most – the people he loved.

`Family was Clive’s greatest pride and deepest joy throughout every chapter of his remarkable life. Today we celebrate not only a towering figure whose influence changed music forever but the man who led our family with grace, generosity and kindness. “We will miss him dearly, hold him close in our hearts forever and carry his love with us for the rest of our lives.”

The music executive had previously faced health problems, including a diagnosis of Bell’s palsy in 2021. Notwithstanding these setbacks, he stayed busy at work in the music industry well into his nineties.

Davis, whose career spanned more than six decades, cemented his reputation as one of the most influential executives in modern music history. During his illustrious career, he won five Grammy Awards.
