The High Court in Oghara, Delta State, has ruled in favor of His Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, Udurhie I, Ovie of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom, in a case for an interlocutory injunction.

Angus Omasoro, M. Ibori Emajemite, and others filed the lawsuit.

The Crown Otota (Iyasere) of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom, Chief Uzzi Onosia James Obriki, said in a statement that the development was a victory for justice.

He says that the court’s decision confirms the king’s status as the official traditional ruler of the Idjerhe Kingdom.

Obriki said that the decision has made people even more sure of the fairness of the legal system.

He said that the judgment strengthens the legitimacy of King Whiskey’s stool and that no one can change what has been divinely ordained.

The palace said that the outcome of the case clearly proves that the king has power over the kingdom.

Obriki also said that the case has been put on hold indefinitely until the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court decide on motions that have already been filed.

The palace also said that reports that King Whiskey had been removed from the throne or forced into exile were not true. It said that these claims were false, misleading, and had no legal basis.

The statement says that the Delta State High Court’s decision in Oghara, which is in the Ethiope West Local Government Area, is open to public review.

The Crown Otota told the people of Idjerhe Kingdom and the rest of the world to stay peaceful and follow the law.

He told people to only trust information that has been checked out about the ongoing kingship dispute, stressing the need to stay away from false information that could cause trouble.
