Jide Kosoko Speaks in Defence of Tinubu Amid Economic Hardship Debate

Nollywood veteran Jide Kosoko has defended President Bola Tinubu, saying the President inherited numerous challenges and is making efforts to address Nigeria’s economic difficulties.

The actor made the remarks during a conversation with actress Biola Bayo, where he challenged descriptions of the country’s situation as being overwhelmingly dire.

Kosoko argued that some critics were overlooking the problems that existed before Tinubu took office.

“Things aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I am hungry; check most of those people. Before Tinubu came, what were they eating?” he said.

He nevertheless acknowledged that Nigerians continue to face significant challenges, stressing that his position should not be interpreted as a claim that the economy is performing perfectly.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying things are rosy; there are too many issues at hand which Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now fixing,” the actor stated.

Kosoko also called on beneficiaries of government programmes, particularly students, to speak out about the administration’s initiatives.

He maintained that political ambition was influencing the way some opponents viewed Tinubu’s policies, insisting that the President was moving in the right direction.

“Tinubu’s opponents know the truth: the man is on the right track, but ambition has clouded their judgment,” he added.

The actor’s remarks come amid continued public debate over the cost of living, economic reforms and the federal government’s response to the challenges confronting Nigerians.

His comments underline the differing opinions surrounding the administration’s performance and the extent to which its policies are addressing the country’s economic concerns.
