Nigerian Juju and Highlife Icon Saint Janet Is Dead

The death of veteran singer Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, better known as Saint Janet, has plunged Nigeria’s Juju and Highlife music industry into mourning following her passing after a brief illness.

The legendary performer died Saturday, ending a musical career that made her one of the most lively live performers in the country, reports said.

Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician, St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore) has died. She was popular for her energetic live performances, dynamic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks. “She died on Saturday after a short illness,” Davies wrote.
Saint Janet enjoyed a huge fan base for her entire career with her high energy stage performances that blended Juju and Highlife rhythms with humour, wit and social consciousness which struck a chord with audiences at parties and social events.

Her unique performance style and ability to connect with audiences helped her become one of the notable figures in the live music scene in Nigeria and earned her recognition among lovers of Juju and Highlife music.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced as of the time this report was filed.
